About Scilla Andreen
Scilla Andreen (CEO and Co-Founder of IndieFlix) is an award-winning filmmaker, Emmy-nominated costume designer, and tireless champion of independent film. Scilla is known as a nurturing disruptor and pioneer in the indie film space. She is relentless in her mission to help filmmakers translate their artistic vision into commercial success. Frustrated by complicated and one-sided distribution deals, Scilla co-founded IndieFlix in 2005 and over the years it has become one of the most meaningful global online streaming platforms in the industry. Her latest innovation, the RPM model (Royalty Pool Minutes), jettisons antiquated and complicated payment systems in favor of refreshing and transparent, simplicity: for every minute watched, a filmmaker gets paid. Scilla travels the globe speaking to filmmakers, film festivals and schools. She resides with her two children in Seattle, WA.
For far too long, filmmakers have been forced to either sell out or starve. Thousands of brilliant, creative minds submit their works to festivals, hoping to find meaningful distribution yet fewer than 1% actually do. We’re here to level the playing field. Founded by filmmakers, IndieFlix is part champion, part curator; our mission is to democratize distribution and provide significant revenue for filmmakers.
IndieFlix is a community of independent filmmakers, film festivals, film schools and fans. Through its membership-based streaming service, IndieFlix gives film lovers access to high quality independent movies not otherwise available. IndieFlix’s mission is to champion filmmakers, rethink traditional approaches to distribution and celebrate the artistry and impact of independent film.
